Good thing for us all that the republicans have added other verbiage unpalatable enough to the demos that passage is unlikely.
I am also grappling unsuccessfully with the concept of the 'Occupy' movement opting to close down the Ports of Los Angeles, Oakland, Portland, and Seattle. True, powerful corporations profit from the Port traffic, but then so do thousands of blue collar workers. In balance, I think the workers lose more than the moneyed interests in any closures, so why do it? I guess I just don't get the 'Plan' - unless there is no plan and we are just seeing a revived anti-globalism for which Ports are seen as smuggling routes for foreign carpetbaggers and their domestic allies.
And I still don't see any cogent reasoning behind the GOP presidential candidates. When is the REAL candidate going to step forward? It CAN'T be Newt. Is there anyone behind the curtain? Can that evil wizard Karl Rove have lost his touch? Or has he been drowned in Tea and banished from Oz?
As it stands now President Obama should have it easy come the election, but easy isn't what this country needs. We need a tough dialog and comprehensive debate between two strong candidates, not something akin to a protracted SNL skit.
My wish for this Holiday would be to have some clarity arrive with the new year. Statesmanship and fruitful compromise seems unlikely, so clarity is about the best we can hope for. Fingers crossed, everyone ...

You're right on. Occupying a worker's job is a dumb tactic. The key is for all of us to work and take the 1% money... but not spend it. Starve THEIR beast.
The Republican nominee for 2012 will be Jeb Bush.
Whether the current group of clowns in the Republican Clown Car Primary Ride now it or not, they are all doomed.
Karl Rove will never drop his quarter-billion dollar wad on any of them.
What we will have is Ron Paul winning California. Mitt Romney caging the Inter-Mountain West. Gringrich eats the South. And they all split up the NE.... So we end up with a broken convention without any clear delegate leader.
After vote after anguished, deadlocked vote, Karl Rove will parachute a tanned, rested and ready Jeb Bush through the rafters to the delight of the beleaguered delegates. JB will appear moderate, Christian, experienced, competent, qualified, eloquent, coherent, coordinated, and Southern.
Bush will own Florida, the South, and drive a massive Red Wedge through the country all the way to the suburbs of Seattle. And Rove will have his toe-hold in history as having been the main architect of the only Three-Peat Family...
President Obama will have his hands full in 2012, because Americans will be given a choice - Do you try to change out 535 corrupt House and Senate money-changers? Or do I, the voter, make an easier choice and just replace the one guy in the executive? Sure, they like obama... But maybe he is the problem, they'll think. He doesn't seem to get along much with anyone... much easier to get ride of one guy...
And I can't believe we're all Enemy Combatants now... sheeet.
I think CNN could use you as an analyst, Oldiron. Everything you say sounds entirely possible - even likely. Scary for all of us from a what-the-hell-kind-of-future-are-we-making view, but likely.
I'd be the analyst at CNN who's pushing a janitor's garbage can stuffed with brooms down the hallways... And the on-air talent can check in for either a non-standard forecast of politics ... or a review of old Python skits... well, gotta get to the restrooms on the second floor...
